Traceside Dermatology and Allergy is a comprehensive dermatology and allergy clinic located in the heart of Nashville, Tennessee at St. Thomas West. We are located near I-440 and are convenient to downtown, midtown, East Nashville, Brentwood, Dickson, Cool Springs, and Franklin TN.

Dr. Amy Valet is a board-certified dermatologist and practices general, cosmetic, and surgical dermatology. In addition to specializing in treatment of skin cancers, sun damage, and acne, Dr. Valet also offers PRP injections for hair loss, microneedling, botox injections, chemical peels, and dermal fillers.

Dr. Rob Valet is a board-certified allergist and practices allergy and immunology, with interests in asthma, seasonal respiratory allergies, urticaria, and immunodeficiencies. He offers allergy shots, patch testing, and xolair injections in the office.

Dr. Casey Shaba is a board-certified dermatologist and practices general, surgical and medical dermatology. She joined Traceside in January, 2019. Dr. Shaba is particularly interested in medical dermatology, as well as diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers.

Our physicians bring a combined total of 28+ years medical practice since completing their residency training at Vanderbilt University.

Dr. Amy S. Valet

Dr. Amy Valet is a Nashville native and is pleased to serve her hometown community. Dr. Valet graduated from Christ Presbyterian Academy. She received her Bachelors in Science summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where she was a Whittle Scholar. She received her medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine on the Love Scholarship and completed her Dermatology Residency at Vanderbilt as well, serving as chief resident during her final year. Since completing residency in 2011, Dr. Valet has worked at Vanderbilt University and in private practice. She is thrilled to be joining the medical community at St. Thomas West.

Dr. Valet enjoys all aspects of dermatology, but her primary professional interests are the prevention and treatment of skin cancer; treatment of complex medical disorders such as psoriasis; and cosmetic skin rejuvenation.

 When not at the office, Dr. Valet can be found working in her garden and playing with her three boys. She serves on the Board of Trustees at Christ Presbyterian Academy and is active in her church.

Dr. Valet is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery, and the Nashville Dermatology Society. She is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology.

Dr. Robert S. Valet

Dr. Robert Valet is a native of Rochester, New York. He earned his bachelor of arts degree summa cum laude from Dartmouth College and his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, where he was awarded the Weinstein Prize in Internal Medicine and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Valet completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at Vanderbilt University, where he subsequently worked as Assistant Professor of Medicine prior to co-founding Traceside Dermatology and Allergy.

Dr. Valet has written numerous first-author publications in his field. He has been featured in local, national, and international news media for his expertise in identifying and treating alpha-gal allergy, in which tick bites result in allergic reactions to red meat.

Dr. Valet is fluent in Spanish and enjoys incorporating his foreign language skills into his practice. He has served as both a volunteer Spanish interpreter and a volunteer physician at Siloam Family Health Center. When not treating patients, Dr. Valet enjoys coaching baseball and playing with his three boys. He is also active in his church.

Dr. Valet is a fellow of the American Academy of Asthma, Allergy, and Immunology, and board-certified by the American Boards of Internal Medicine and Allergy and Immunology.

Dr. Casey E. Shaba

Dr. Casey Shaba is a native of Lexington, Kentucky. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky and her medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in dermatology at Vanderbilt and her dermatopathology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Shaba has practiced both general dermatology and dermatopathology in the Nashville area since 2011 and we are pleased to welcome her to Traceside. She brings with her ten years of patient care experience. Dr. Shaba has a special interest in complex medical dermatology including rashes, psoriasis, and autoimmune conditions of the skin (including lupus, lichen planus, etc.).

Dr. Shaba lives in Nashville with her husband, Steve, a radiologist and her three children. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology.
